About me

Debanjan was initiated to SARODE, at a tender age of 5 yrs, under the guidance of Late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan. After his sad demise and till date, he is under the tutelage of Ustad Aashish Khan and Smt. Ameena Perera of Maihar Senia Gharana. He has also participated in various workshops conducted by the Legendary Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.

 

 

Achievements

 

 

  • Won the FIRST prize in a competition of Indian Instrumental Classical music organised by Baba Allaudin Khan Memorial Committee, in collaboration with Rajya Sangeet Academy, Kolkata, in the year 1996.
  • He was awarded the National Scholarship of Music from the Centre for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT), New Delhi in 1997.
  • In 2006, he secured the FIRST position (thereby winning the Pt. Nikhil Banerjee Memorial Trophy) in the Instrumental Classical Music competition, organised by The Dover Lane Music Conference, a premier music organisation of Kolkata.
  • Debanjan has earned the FIRST position (President’s Gold Medal) in the prestigious music competition held by the All India Radio in the year 2008.
  • He is also an empanelled artiste under the Indian Council for Cultural Resources (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.
  • ITC – Sangeet Research Academy (West) & Acharya Allaudin Music Circle, Mumbai has conferred upon him the “Acharya Allaudin Khan Memorial” Award, after being declared 1st in the AIR competition.
  • He is now a graded artiste with the All India Radio & Doordarshan, Kolkata.
  • An album in the name of ‘Tradition Unfolds’ has been released by Bihaan Music, Kolkata.

  • He is currently pursuing his post graduation degree course in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), Shibpore.
