About me

Prasad was born with the liking for music, especially Tabla. He started cultivating love for tabla into the systematic artistic faculty. Prasad has his family background which has great tradition of KEERTAN & BHAJAN. His grandfather, Late Haribhau Karambelkar who was a "KEERTAN KALANIDHI", started the tradition of music in their family. Prasad has taken his primary guidance of Tabla from his uncle Shri Chandrakant Karambelkar & Shri Gajanan Karambelkar at the age of four. He began learning tabla from Shri Tukaram Chavan in Kankavali at the age of Six & now he is learning from Shri Ramdas Palsule and Pandit Suresh Samant in Pune.

He has performed with Legends of Hindustani Classical music such as Pandit Vijay Bakshi, Pandit Appasaheb Jalgaonkar, Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pandit Rajendra Gangani, Late Pandit Sudhir Phadake, Guru Shri Ramdas Palsule and many others.

• First prize in Tabla Solo competitions like Kalyani Karandak, Firodia Karandak, Mood Indigo, Late Pandit Kanthe Maharaj Competition, Rajya Natya Spardha Delhi and many more.
• Scholarship from Govt. of India.
• First Prize in All India Radio Competition in Pune.
• First Prize in the competition hold by Acharya Vishwanath Dev Sarma Art Foundation & Vedic Heritage Inc., New York in Mumbai under the Indian Classical Instrumental Category.
• Performed in New York in Nov. 2007 for the final Competition of Vedic Heritage
