About me

Kuhoo, as her name implies, is gifted with a melliflous voice. The rich tonal quality captivates the listener instantly and everytime. She began singing at the tender age of 5. Her formal education in music started at the age of 11 when she started training in Hindustani Classical Vocals. This was to be the beginning of a journey for her as she improved her singing every passing day. She won many national level prizes in singing. Equally competent in academics, Kuhoo studied in IIT Mumbai and completed her M. Tech from Computer Science department.

Currently, she is a professional singer and a software engineer based out of Pune, India. She has recorded professionally Indian classical and semi classical songs along with the contemporary film music. Always willing to experiment and with a huge appetite to improve, Kuhoo has also delved into the world of western songs and has recorded professionally for fusion songs. She has sung many original compositions which shows how well she can understand and interpret a fresh melody and shows her ability to mould herself according to the composer's frame of mind.

She was featured in Zee Saregamapa twice in 2003 and 2004 and was selected in top 12 female voices in Golden Voice Hunt series. She has performed on stage in Ahmedabad, Bombay and Pune and is a well known voice in Pune music circle. She also performed in the inauguration evening of Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2010 infront of stars like Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand, Amol Palekar, Subhash Ghai, Sudhesh Bhonsle etc..

• Her album of original songs called "kuhoo kuhoo bole koyaliya" is released at some of the major online stores.
• Some of the original songs sung by her featured in Awaaz Mahotsav 2010.
• Won first prize in a competition organized by Hind Yugm to promote Hindi poetry through songs in 2009.
• Performed in the inauguration evening of Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2010.
• Worked with various composers on original compositions through collaborations done over the internet.
• Won in "Suron ka Sartaaj", a singing competition organized by Radio City 91.1 FM in Pune.
• Won best all rounder prize in inter IT cultural contest in 2007 and best singer in 2008.
• Worked with Australia based music composer (Kelvin Brown) on an untitled fusion album.
• Featured in Zee Saregamapa twice in 2003 and 2004.
• Lent voice to some of the regional devotional music album in Indore in 2002-2003.
• Won third prize in national level light singing competition in Delhi (Sangam Kala Group) in 1997
